On April 26th, 2018 our son Beckett chose to leave this world. He was a funny, gentle and brilliant young man with a bright future ahead of him. Wise beyond his years, he had accomplished much in his short time with us. Beckett was passionate about technology, especially robotics and was dedicated to mentoring and teaching others. He believed people deserved to be treated respectfully and not judged for their beliefs.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
To honor his memory we have created The Beckett Project. Its purpose will be to sponsor and aid local educational and community initiatives that reflect Beckett’s passions and ideals.
The Beckett Project will focus our efforts fundraising for
Service and Support Dogs.
We support "NATIONAL SERVICE DOGS", a Non - Profit Organization
that empowers people to achieve their full potential with
strategically trained and certified service dogs.
We will continue to support technology and mentoring
inniatives that reflect Beckett's ideals.

Stoney Creek Public School established an award for the student who excels in technology. The recipient will also exhibil the ideals Beckett lived while mentoring their Jr Robotics team from 2013-2017

BECKETT SMITH MEMORIAL BIT BY BIT TECHNOLOGY AWARD
Awarded annually by University of Western Ontario Dept of COmputer Science
Best computer related project in the Junior Division by an individual student. Gr 6-8.
Beckett attended Bit by Bit for many years. First as a student, and, for three years, as a mentor and councelor. It was a huge part of his summer and another way Beckett paid it forward.
